Chinese company signs contract for the largest oil and gas project in Saudi Arabia
On April 24th, China National Petroleum Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. and Shandong Electric Power Construction Company, a subsidiary of China Electric Power Construction, signed agreements with Saudi Aramco to participate in the construction of the third phase of the Saudi National Natural gas pipeline Network expansion project.
Among them, China National Petroleum Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. won the bid for the EPC general contracting contract for the first bid, with an amount of US11.699 billion.This is the largest oil and gas EPC contract won by a Chinese-funded company in the Saudi market.SEPCO won the bid for the EPC general contracting contract for the second bid, with a contract amount of US11.5 billion, which also marks the company's participation in the construction of all three phases of the Saudi National natural gas pipeline network.
The Saudi National Natural gas pipeline network system is operated by Saudi Aramco and is one of the largest natural gas collection and processing systems in the world. Since its completion in 1982, it has become the backbone of the Saudi industrial economic network.The third-phase expansion project of the Saudi National natural gas pipeline system is a national-level strategic project for Saudi east-west gas transmission, with a total investment of US112 billion and is divided into 17 bid segments.Among them, the first and second bidding segments mainly focus on the expansion of booster stations and supporting facilities, while the remaining bidding segments involve the laying of new natural gas transportation pipelines and the expansion of related facilities.After the completion of the project, the daily gas transmission capacity of the pipeline will be increased from 12 billion cubic feet to 17.5 billion cubic feet, which will completely meet the gas demand of the construction of the King's Economic City in western Saudi Arabia and a number of large-scale gas-fired power station projects, and significantly reduce the consumption of petroleum energy in the western economic belt. It is of great significance to promote the economic development of western Saudi Arabia, enhance oil export capacity, and improve environmental quality.
