01. PetroChina

Changqing Oilfield has newly discovered a large 100 million-ton integrated oil field in Longdong-Hongde Oilfield is located in the western part of the Ordos Basin with extremely complex geological conditions. Due to the staggered geological faults and cracks, it has been difficult to break through after more than ten years of exploration and research, and it has become a “restricted area” for petroleum exploration.Since June 2021, Changqing Oilfield has used three-dimensional seismic technology to cover a large area to support and guide, and petroleum exploration has once again deployed to the Hongde area to find tectonic reservoirs. In two years, 23 exploration wells have obtained high-yield industrial oil flows, of which 3 wells produce more than 100 tons of oil per day.

The mineral rights of the Hongde Oilfield cover an area of 600 square kilometers and span the three townships of Hongde, Luoshanchuan and Hudong in the northern part of Huanxian County.Up to now, the proven oil reserves have exceeded 50 million tons, the predicted oil reserves are 56.2 million tons, and the daily output level of crude oil has reached 504 tons. The discovered oil reserves have formed a crude oil production capacity with an annual output of 500,000 tons.

In addition to the discovery of a large oil field, in early April this year, PetroChina made a major breakthrough in shale gas exploration in Sichuan.On April 8 this year, PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company deployed 201 shale gas wells in Neijiang, Sichuan, and tested a stable daily gas volume of 738,800 cubic meters. This is the first time in the world that a high-yielding industrial gas stream with commercial development value has been drilled in an ancient Cambrian shale formation dating back 540 million years!This strategic breakthrough in Cambrian shale gas exploration has opened up a new position for large-scale shale gas storage and production in the Sichuan Basin, further consolidating the resource base and development confidence for realizing China's shale revolution, and is of strategic significance to promote the construction of a national natural gas (shale gas) production base of 100 billion cubic meters in Sichuan and Chongqing regions to ensure our country's energy security.

02. Sinopec

In 2023, China Petroleum's key breakthroughs and discoveries in oil and gas exploration will mainly be concentrated in the ”Deep-earth project· Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base".On August 21st, news from the Information Office of Sinopec showed that Sinopec's “Deep-earth Project· Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base” has made a major breakthrough. The first phase of the Pakistan-China gas field submitted by the exploration Branch has 30.55 billion cubic meters of proven geological reserves, which has successfully passed the verification by the Oil and Gas Reserves Review Office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, marking Sinopec's addition of new gas fields in the Sichuan Basin.The discovery of this gas field further reveals the good exploration potential of dense sandstone in Northeast Sichuan, which is of great significance to ensure national energy security.

Sinopec's new atmospheric field, the Bazhong Gas Field, is located in Bazhong City, Sichuan Province. It is the third gas field of the exploration branch with the dense sandstone of the Sujiahe Formation as the main target layer.Up to now, the exploration branch has submitted a total of 154.747 billion cubic meters of proven geological reserves in the dense sandstone field of the Sujiahe Formation in Northeast Sichuan.

In addition to adding new gas fields in the Sichuan Basin, China Petrochemical's “Deep-earth Project· Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base” in 2023 has also made a number of major breakthroughs.In early November, Sinopec's “Deep-earth Engineering· Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base” made a breakthrough, and the key pre-exploration well of deep dense sandstone deployed in the Yuanba gas field, the Yuanlu 2HF well, was tested to obtain high-yield industrial airflow to unlock hundreds of billions of cubic meters of gas reservoirs; in early August, Sinopec's “Deep-earth Engineering· Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base” received good news. The deep coal-bed methane well Yang 2 well deployed in Nanchuan District, Chongqing achieved 100 days of self-injection production, marking Sinopec's breakthrough in deep coal-bed methane exploration in southeast Chongqing; in early April, Sinopec's “Deep-earth Engineering” achieved a breakthrough in deep coal-bed methane exploration in southeast Chongqing. ·Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base" achieved a major breakthrough. The company deployed the shale gas exploration well Lei Page 1 well in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, and successfully obtained 426,600 cubic meters of shale gas per day. It is the first time in China to achieve a breakthrough in deep marine shale gas exploration in the Permian Dalong Formation.

03. CNOOC

So far, CNOOC has discovered two large oil fields in 2023.On March 1st, CNOOC announced that China's Bohai Sea has made another major discovery of 100 million tons-Bozhong 26-6 oilfield.The oilfield is the largest metamorphic rock Qianshan oilfield in China, and it is also the largest crude oil production base in China. The Bohai Oilfield has been explored and discovered for three consecutive years. The 100 million-ton oilfield has further consolidated the foundation of China's offshore oil and gas resources and reserves, which is of great significance to ensure national energy security.

The proven geological reserves of the Bozhong 26-6 oilfield exceed 130 million tons of oil equivalent. According to the normal recovery rate, it can extract more than 20 million tons of crude oil. After refining into gasoline, it can be used for 10,000 cars to travel normally for 30 years. At the same time, it can extract more than 9 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which can meet the needs of Tianjin's permanent population for nearly 15 years, and has considerable social and economic benefits.

On October 23, CNOOC released news that China's first 100 billion square meter deep coal seam gas field-Shenfu Deep coal seam gas field-was discovered in the 2,000-meter formation on the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin. The proven geological reserves exceed 110 billion cubic meters, which is of great significance to ensure national energy security and help the development of the western regions in the new era.

Shenfu Deep coal seam atmospheric field is located in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, on the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin. The coal seam is mainly buried at a depth of about 2,000 meters, with a single-layer thickness between 6.2 meters and 23.3 meters, and the average gas content of tons of coal is 15 cubic meters.CNOOC currently has more than 100 exploration wells deployed in the region, with a maximum daily output of 26,000 cubic meters per well.

On July 19th this year, the National Energy Administration organized a promotion meeting to vigorously increase the intensity of oil and gas exploration and development in 2023.The meeting pointed out that since the “Seven-year Action Plan”, China's annual crude oil production has increased from 189 million tons to 205 million tons in the past five years, and the annual natural gas production has increased from 160.2 billion cubic meters to 220.1 billion cubic meters.In 2022, China's oil and gas self-sufficiency guarantee rate will increase by about 2 percentage points year-on-year, of which the crude oil self-sufficiency guarantee rate will increase from 27.8% to 28.8%, and the natural gas self-sufficiency guarantee rate will increase from 55.7% to nearly 60%.
