Gazprom and PetroChina sign long-term natural gas supply agreement

Gazprom pointed out that the signing of the document has become an important step in further consolidating mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and China in the field of natural gas.After the project reaches its full capacity, Russia's natural gas supply to China will increase by 10 billion cubic meters, and the total amount will reach 48 billion cubic meters/year (including through the "Siberian Power" natural gas pipeline).
“This is the second natural gas supply contract signed between Russia and China.” Alexey Miller, vice chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the management committee of Gazprom, said that this move reflects the unusually strong partnership of mutual trust between China and Russia and the two companies. Gazprom said that China and Russia signed a 30-year natural gas supply agreement in 2014. Russia supplies 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China every year through the “Siberian Power” pipeline (Eastern Pipeline).Gas supply officially started in December 2019.In January 2022, the feasibility study of the ”Alliance East" pipeline has been approved.This pipeline will become an extension of the ”Siberia II" pipeline to supply natural gas to China through Mongolia.
According to a previous report by the Russian satellite news agency, on January 18, Gazprom set a single-day absolute record for the supply of natural gas to China under the framework of the contract with PetroChina.
